Florida or Medditerranean
The Mediterranean home style is often named Florida style, however, the design elements of these homes are multicultural and mostly Mediterranean in nature, the repeated characteristic is this house plan designed to be comfortable and livable in a humid climate. Frequent design elements include numerous arched doorways, molded or cast stone columns, dark mahogany trim and tile or marble floors give this home style a distinct Tuscan villa that looks like it was built several hundred years ago. Often you will see, especially in the case of multi-story homes, arched windows, cathedral or domed ceilings and curved staircases with balcony overlooks are a few favorites.
The look of natural cut stone is yet another important element when designing a Mediterranean house floor plan. The cut stone appearance is popular for Mediterranean; Spanish and Italian style homes that provide a cool feeling in the summer months and give an eye pleasing, fashionable appearance to the overall homes design. The Mediterranean look can be achieved with raised plasterwork or cast stone.
